RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT
Beulah Lane
Beulah Lane was born on Nov. 13,
1935, to Samuel and Gertie Jackson in
Springfield, Mo. She was the youngest of
nine children, six brothers and two sisters.
During her sophomore year in high
school, her family moved to Buffalo. This
allowed her father to help her uncle, who
was blind, run a well drilling business.
While she was in high school, Beulah
developed a great friendship with Carol Lane.
During that time, Beulah was introduced to
Carol’s brother, Perry. Eventually, Perry
won her heart. She graduated from high
school on May 8, 1953. On May 31, Perry
and Beulah were married at the First
Baptist Church Parsonage.
“Perry convinced me that we would
have a good, long-life together.” Beulah
said with a smile. “And we did. He was a
wonderful husband and selfless father.”
Sadly this past November, after 61 years
of marriage, Perry passed away.
Shortly after the Lane’s were married,
Beulah joined the local VFW Auxiliary.
Beulah was elected as the District President
for three different terms. During this time,
she was also appointed as State Chairman.
The ladies of the Auxiliary were talking
about nominating her for State Guard,
but she had to decline the position, due
to her pregnancy.
The Lane’s were blessed had two children. Terry is a firefighter in Buffalo and
Lisa lives in Long Lane, where she is a
middle school teacher. Beulah has
seven beautiful grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.
The Lane’s lived a wonderful life on
their 105-acre farm where they raised
sheep, hogs and one cow. They loved the
farm life. One day, Perry decided it was
time to spend winters where the weather
was nicer. From 1980 until 2000, the
couple would travel to Yuma, Ariz. in
November and remain there until April.
They made many new friends and treasure the time spent there.
Beulah spent much of her life as a
loving mother and helping Perry on the
farm. Even though she was very busy,
Beulah always made time to help out
with the PTA. She was a member of the
Harmony Hustlers, a local group who made
quilts, lap robes and cancer bandages.
She has always found joy in dedicating
her life for others.
A few months ago, Beulah became a
Colonial Springs family. She enjoys
socializing and taking part in various
activities with the other ladies and
having a good time. Most importantly,
she loves her family dearly and puts
them first in her life. Thank you Beulah!
