Harvest Season
I am sure everyone is almost done
harvesting their gardens for the
summer. If you have any extra tomatoes, peppers, onions or any items
that we could use to can salsa, we
would be glad to take it off your
hands.
Each fall, the ladies enjoy canning
and making salsa for our holiday craft
show. The craft show is held every
November. If you would like to donate
any of these items, please contact
Patrice Melton, activities director, at
417-345-2228.

and made a fashionable purse out of them.

Going for Gold in Rio
This year’s summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Aug. 5 - 21. This year marks
the XXXI Olympiad.
As we watch our American team give it their all for our country, we will celebrate with our own
Olympic events. These will include balloon volleyball, discus throwing, Olympic toss, and soccer kick.
Before we begin the games, we must have an Olympic torch relay where different ladies and
gentlemen will pass our torch throughout the halls until it reaches its final destination in the dining
room. The torch will stay lit until the last day of the events.
Medals will be won and a variety of Brazilian food will be serve. The entire two weeks will be dedicated to Rio and the Olympic games. Check out our calendar and stop by to experience the Colonial
Springs Healthcare Center Olympics first hand.
Vacation Bible School
Each year, local churches
sponsor vacation Bible school
for children to attend. This year,
we will host our own Vacation
Bible School program, but gear
it toward adults. Our theme will
be Truth Trek. Each day we will
discover a new treasure in our
lives. These include: honoring
God, honoring family, respecting
life, respecting others and
obeying God.
If you would like to join us in
our ‘trek’ with the Lord, we will
conduct our VBS from Aug. 2226. Check our calendar for
times.
Thank you…

some special moments together
last month when several ladies ate
lunch with the children from A Step
Ahead Daycare.
Betty Jo Owens would like to
thank everyone who donated to the
Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center
through her kiss a pig campaign.
It was listed in the Buffalo Reflex
newspaper as a donation from her,
but in reality she says, “It was a donation from all of my friends. I just
had the idea to do it.”
“With everyone’s help, we raised
over $1127.00 to help find a cure
for cancer,” says Betty Jo. “Thank
you, everyone who helped us kick
cancer.”
