Patsy was the seventh of eight children, having four brothers and three sisters. When Patsy was 10 years old, she accepted Jesus as her savior. She was baptized at Bible Baptist Church where her membership continues today. Patsy grew up in Buffalo and went to Buffalo High School where she graduated in 1960. “I have a funny story to tell. After graduating from high school, I was dating this fellow. One evening, he introduced me to his friend, Everett Durrington. Well, it wasn’t too long after that, that I was dating Everett,” said Patsy. “We dated for about six months and we were married on March 4, 1962, at the home of our preacher, Charlie Claspill. We celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary last month.” The Durrington’s had two sons, Doug and Greg. They both live in Springfield. Patsy has three grandchil- dren, one girl and two boys. In 1964, the Durrington’s moved to Wichita, Kansas where Everett worked for Boeing Aircraft. The couple stayed there for about six years, then moved back to their farm in Louisburg. “When we moved back, I started working at the Buffalo school with the handicapped children. I loved those kids so much!” said Patsy. “ I worked with the kids for 38 years. They brought me so much joy.” After Patsy retired in 2008, her and Everett began making small woodworking items and sold them to the public. Pasty also enjoyed raising a garden full of vegetables. “I mostly froze my vegetables. I wasn’t much into canning them. This way was much easier,” siad Patsy. Patsy came to Colonial Springs in January and is a joy to be around. She enjoys playing bingo, going to church, visiting with the ladies in the dining room, and doing word search puzzles. Thank you Patsy for allowing us to get to know you better! Are you a caring individual who would like to assist in caring for the elderly?
