a strong supporter of the Cape Industries

from Belgium that is insulated for cold
storage. It also imports dock levellers from
the US to meet the demand for a higher
quality product with superior strength.
Its truck cranes come from Austria and
it imports stationary cranes for marine
applications. These products attracted a
great deal of interest at the show.
David Eisenhut, director global sales support for SSI Schaefer (on left), made his first

Robert Kershaw, business development manager, based in Johannesburg.
Linda Olsen-Lötter was at the stand to
engage with visitors about the product

Exhibited was this dock leveller with
a control box for operation, Iifted by

He commented that the automation
of storage systems could be gradually
developed in stages, for instance, semi
mobile, which offers high density of product
followed by automatic storage and
automatic retrieving. As a start, rails can be
fitted in the floor of new stores and mobile
racking added later.
Coolmac and Refrigeration Solutions
have formed a new partnership. Coolmac
boasts many years of experience in the
agricultural sector, while Refrigeration
Solutions is strong in the commercial/
supermarket sector.
Coolmac has an extensive presence
throughout the country, including
Johannesburg, Worcester, Groblersdal,
Nelspruit and Mozambique. Refrigeration
Solutions builds packaged units in its
Parow plant, predominately for the
supermarket sector. In the agricultural
sector, it is difficult to offer packages, as
each client has very specific requirements.
Coolmac has been involved with
agricultural project such as de-greening
in Citrusdal (serviced from Worcester),
Rhodes Fruit Farm in Franschhoek, and
Fruit Spot for Walmart.
The refrigerants mostly used in the
installations of both Coolmac and
Refrigeration Solutions are R404A, R407F
and R134a. Both commented that most
clients are concerned about energy and
capital costs and, to a much lesser extent,
environmental impact.
