INCORPORATING COLD CHAIN
Although only recently launched in the
South African market, ClimaCheck was
patented in 1986 and the company
formed in 2003 by Klas Berglöf and his
partner, an industrial programmer.
Berglöf has been interested in
thermodynamics from a young age,
and completed his Master of Science
degree in thermodynamics in 1984 at
the Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm. He has done assignments for
the United Nations Industrial Development
Organisation on the phasing out of
ozone depleting substances (ODS) in
the Philippines and the Balkans. Berglöf
also served on the American Society of
Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning
Engineers committee on fault finding and
energy assessment.
ClimaCheck has an international
distribution network in countries such as
the US, Spain, Italy, Ireland, and Sweden,
and included South Africa in May 2016.
During his visit to South Africa to
conclude the distribution agreement
with CoolCheck and to provide product
training, Berglöf addressed the technical
meetings of the South African Institute
of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
(SAIRAC) in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth
and Johannesburg. The response from
contractors at the SAIRAC meetings
bode well for the future of ClimaCheck
in South Africa.
