At Chillventa, Wigam showcased an extensive range of recovery units, vacuum pumps, gauges and refillable cylinders, specifically designated for use with R32. Hose connections on R32 systems are designed to only accept service equipment compliant with the safety requirements for HFOs.
Skills competition The skills competition held in Hall 9 attracted nine young competitors from the German technician community. Under the auspices of BIV( the association for German refrigeration plant assemblers), the competitors were required to pipe up a system with a hermetic compressor, air cooled condenser and piping bent to form the letters BIV in a continuous circuit that needed to be completely covered in ice. At the award ceremony on the Thursday

afternoon, Fabian Schulte of Hamburg took first prize of EUR500, Richard Dogan of Bayern second prize of EUR250, and Silas Klatt of Rheinland Pfalz third prize of EUR150. Tool sets were also included in the prizes.
The standard of workmanship was a fine example of German industry standards, especially when considering that the competitors worked under the watchful eyes of the judges and a stream of Chillventa visitors.
Education In 2004, Prof. Risto Ciconkov of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Skopje, Macedonia published a 250- page book entitled Refrigeration solved examples. The book has many worked examples to calculate( for instance) coefficient of performance( COP), mass
flow rate, pressure drop, and heat transfer coefficients for different configurations of systems, evaporators, condensers, and so forth. Since first published, the book has been widely acclaimed by design engineers, consultants and academics in refrigeration.
The 2016 edition on offer from Prof. Ciconkov at Chillventa 2016 has had 10 new examples of systems with CO 2 added.
The professor has also written a number of software programs for calculating the thermal performance of heat exchangers for manufacturers and teaching institutions. He is also the author of“ Energy – how to save”, an informative handbook with 130 tips for energy saving in buildings, heating systems, household appliances, refrigeration systems and so forth.
The many industrial refrigeration conferences organised by Prof. Ciconkov in Skopje, Macedonia has attracted delegates and had renowned speakers from across the world. After being at the university since 1974, the professor is set to retire from the university in 2017. With his widespread experience in climate change projects and involvement with the International Institute of Refrigeration( IIR), UNIDO, eurammon, ASHRAE, and the United Nations Environment Programme( UNEP), he will no doubt have a very busy retirement.
Paris-based IIR, the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration( IIAR), European Partnership for Energy and the Environment( EPEE), and eurammon also had stands with information about their publications, training programmes and networking groups. Membership of professional, industry and trade associations is vital to the sustained growth of any commercial business and more than often, these institutions take the lead in addressing global and national issues for the benefit of the entire community.
