About 400 people attended this momentous occasion at the HC factory in Elandsfontein on 7 October, coming from across the country to not only check out the manufacturer’ s‘ new’ premises, but also see the newly developed HC Dew Maker that creates drinking water from air. This innovative product has been developed to aid with the potable water crisis in Africa. Many familiar faces from all sides of the industry attended and all had a memorable Friday.
The team moved into these premises earlier in 2016 and proudly showed off its incredible production facility by way of various factory tours held throughout the afternoon.“ We’ ve spent a lot of time and effort on the offices, not just for our staff but also for our customers,” explained Robert Kruger, managing director.“ The significance of the event was to open our doors to our customer base and to make them feel at home here.”

Live entertainment was provided by Brian Capper, extreme biking champion, who entertained young and old with his action-packed display of skill, using a custom-built portable rig. The adrenalin packed show was almost unheard of at an industry event such as this, as Capper braved the wind to manoeuvre his bike over the various obstacles with incredibly precise skill and experience that left many breathless. None more so than the brave Samantha Zackey, marketer at HC who arranged this wellorchestrated event. She volunteered to participate in one of Capper’ s tricks, lying down as he jumped his bike over her in a series of spine-chilling tricks. Zackey‘ survived’ the‘ ordeal’. A shout out to this incredible woman— not just for her courageousness, but also for her sheer skill in pulling off an event of this scale.
Then it was time for Kruger to say a few words. He welcomed everyone and

thanked them for their support over the years. After a short prize giving, it was time to get into enjoying the craft beer on tap and German food on offer.
“ We were thrilled with the turnout,”

said Kruger afterwards.“ We’ re incredibly grateful that we have the support of so many of these industry stalwarts. It makes a difference and lends credence to what we do.” CLA |
