Chellgren Seminar features Jensen lecture
The UK 2016 Chellgren Seminar featured Dr . Jane Jensen ’ s lecture , “ That Je Ne Sais Quoi : Credentialing and Cultural Capital .” In her discussion , Jensen described the ways in which family background and opportunity shape the experiences students have in college resulting in the reproduction of social inequalities . A Chellgren Professor , Jensen ’ s three-year project explores the ways in which institutions can support academic literacy in higher education , particularly in accessing the general education curriculum and high impact practices of education abroad and undergraduate research experiences . The purpose of the Chellgren Seminar Series is to contribute to the intellectual aspects of the undergraduate experience by inviting eminent scholars to deliver brief , provocative presentations on issues that expand our thinking and imagination .
