#teamthatworks Preparation starts, for me, with that point about relationships. Why should your players trust that you can help them? So get to know them, build up that relationship. Create a safe environment where they feel free to make mistakes and challenge themselves. Set collective goals, as a squad. For example we’ve targeted selling out Lord’s, after seeing what the women achieved last summer. Prepare them to be self-reliant as cricketers and as people. Then they can be ready to face challenges not only on the pitch but in all aspects of their lives. Adaptability, for the physical disability guys, starts with understanding their disabilities and what it allows them to do, or not do, in a match. We know the range of our players and are always working on how to use them correctly on the pitch.
