#TEAMTHATWORKS
Ian Salisbury, England Physical Disability Head Coach, on his three
requirements for all cricket coaches, regardless of the challenges
their squad face.
F
or me, coaching is all about the
people you’re dealing with. If you
build a good relationship with them,
with everyone important in their lives,
that’s when you can get the best out of
them. And that’s true regardless of any
physical limitations.
What does become important with
disabled players, but is a fact that
should be used all over sport, is finding
a way. That can be finding a way to get
around a physical disability, or finding
a way to play spin within a player’s
existing technique.
That is also where our slogan came
from, our hashtag: #teamthatworks.
Taken from the ideas of Martin Hewitt,
an incredible adventurer who was
injured in Afganistan in 2007 but has
gone on to do extraordinary feats, who
said anything is possible with three
things:
• Preparation
• Adaptability
• A team that works.
