Global
Opportunities
Global Opportunities at CHS are designed to expose
students to different people, places and cultures.
Students are challenged to engage in the lives of
others through service with an emphasis on
partnership and respect for the different perspectives
that are a natural part of different cultures. The trips
allow girls to travel with their peers, to become more
self-sufficient, to test themselves, and to experience
something that will expand their horizons and
accelerate personal growth.
Notice Regarding COVID-19
After thorough and careful consideration, Crofton
House School has made a decision to cancel its Major
Trips and Global Exchange Program for the 2020-
2021 school year due to concerns about COVID-19.
After reviewing travel restrictions, mandatory
quarantine expectations and social distancing
measures, CHS was unable to confidently organize
and safely execute a program that truly resembled an
immersive global cultural experience.
Crofton House School recognizes the importance of
these Global Opportunities and the unique learning
opportunities they present. The school will be
reviewing the global climate regarding COVID-19 in
the Spring of 2021 and will determine the
reinstatement of Major Trips and Global Exchanges in
the 2021-2022 school year.
Major Trips
A “major trip” is a one-time experience that takes
students into the world, beyond the family and
exposes them to a variety of experiences in a
supportive and structured environment. All trips
take place during the Spring Break vacation and range
in length from 10 – 14 days. One to four curricular
trips are offered each year with themes and locations
based on teacher submissions and student demand.
Trip costs generally run from $4,500 – $5,500
depending on the location. Trip selections are
determined in mid-May of the previous year and
information is posted for student consideration. A
trip meeting is held in early September and student
commitment is due by the end of September with all
payments due by October 31 in the fall prior to the
trip departure.
