Eligibility Grade 9–12 Business Duration Meeting Times Full Year Tuesday, Lunch Eligibility Grade 8–12 The Business Club is a club through which students can develop their knowledge of the business world, participate in exciting activities such as monopoly tournaments and a stock market challenge, and take the initiative by suggesting new ideas. In past, we have donated funds raised by the students to Finca, a microfinance organization, and Happy Home, a charity supported by the Roman Catholic Church for educational support in Nepal. We will continue to develop marketing ideas and take on business case competitions. Students in this club organize weekly activities for drop-in participants. Examples of the activities are: chocolate chip cookie making, sewing stuffed animals, decorating gingerbread houses. Days for Girls Duration Full Year The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global program with the goal of challenging, empowering and recognizing young people between the ages of 14 and 24. Since 1963, the Duke of Ed Award has helped motivate young Canadians to set goals and challenge themselves to take control of their lives and futures. Duke of Ed strives to reach young Canadians and provide a platform that helps them chart their individual lives and equips them with important life skills. There are usually one to two multi-day trips per year, with additional costs associated with them. Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders Duration Meeting Times Full Year Monday, Lunch Eligibility Grade 8–12 Our club collaborates with Social Responsibility to orchestrate events and activities surrounding International Women’s Week. First Responders Meeting Times Thursday, Lunch Eligibility Grade 8–12 The students create feminine hygiene kits for girls in countries where it would difficult to attend school without these items. The girls work in our textiles room in order to create the items and then collate the kits. They work directly with the Port Moody Chapter of this organization in order to distribute the kits. Duration Meeting Times Eligibility Full Year Two Wednesdays a month Grade 8–12 students with at least one certification as outlined in the club description
