Duration
Meeting Times

Eligibility Grade 8–12
The Model UN program involves students’ learning
about current and past world issues (political, social,
environmental, economic), finding out about various
countries’ foreign policies, and learning the United
Nations rules and procedures, including how to
conduct research and create position papers (a
statement that outlines a country’s position on a
particular issue). With the help of a coach, the girls
learn how to debate their points, think quickly so that
they can respond to others’ points, and - perhaps
most importantly - how to collaborate with others to
achieve consensus. We attend up to four conferences
on weekends throughout the school year. While
attendance at these conferences is optional, students
are encouraged to attend at least one external
conference. Additional costs apply for each conference
attended.
