Friday Afternoon Activities Program Art: Painting and Sculpting Painting introduces students to figurative painting while using themselves as subject matter. The course will commence with a design development that enables the practitioner to complete a self-portrait representationally and then semi-representationally. Colour mixing and application of paint will also be covered as well as an introduction to the use of elements and principles of art and design in an artwork. The focus of this course is: • a focus on arts skills and processes with painting • an introduction to the elements and principles of art and design • media exploration including colour mixing and application • awareness of the design development stage Ceramics will introduce students to the coil and slab methods of construction in order to make functional clay works like jars and vases. They will be shown how to embellish and glaze the clay works before there final firing in a kiln with a focus on the elements and principles of art and design.
