RECOMMENDED RIDES

there, just put in Monticello and take a ride up to the beginning of Highway 587.
This is one of my favorite roads in the state. Take 587 from Monticello down to Red Bluff. Red Bluff is known as the Mississippi Grand Canyon. It is a massive washout from unusually rapid erosion, which has caused the state to relocate Highway 587 several times. There are hiking trails and easy parking to see the vast ' canyon.' You can park on either the North or South side. The North entrance offers easy access but limited parking, while the South entrance requires a longer walk to the site but features a larger parking area.
From Red Bluff, I ' m going to break my previous rule of just giving you waypoints to put in a GPS and instead provide specific roads to take, so you can be sure to hit some great motorcycle roads. Continue South on 587 to Columbia, then take a left on
Highway 98. A couple of miles down 98, take a right on Purvis to Columbia Road. Stay on that road almost all the way to Purvis, where you ' ll take a right on Coal Town Road. Coal Town Road will deadend at Talowah Road and turn right. The first road on your right will be Lawler Road. Take it to a 3-way intersection and take a left on Elliot Road, then a left on Hendrix Road, and finally another left on Little Black Creek Road. Stay on Little Black Creek Road to Lumberton. On the East side of Lumberton is a little venue called Chuck ' s Southside. If you left
East Fork Baptist Church early enough and timed it right, you can eat lunch and find a burger and / or fried chicken sandwich that will make the entire ride and early start all worthwhile. CMA
