Testimonies

MY
husband, Tim, and I have
attended the Bikes,
Blues, & BBQ rally in Fayetteville,
Arkansas. We experienced the thrill
of being part of a group ride to the
event and enjoyed walking around
all the locations and visiting the
multitude of vendor booths. We
watched motorcycle stunt riders
and indulged ourselves in the
eateries and food wagons. We had
the pleasure of being among the
ocean of people walking around
seeing the sites and took pleasure
in the art of people watching from
the comfort of a shaded sidewalk.
We passed the CMA tents and even
stopped to see our brothers and
sisters loving on people, serving,
and ministering. It has been inspiring
to see them do what they do
on a large scale, always saying we
would help in any way, but not
really knowing what to do.
This year, we purposed in our
heart to be a part of what was
going on. We didn’t fully understand
the magnitude of the need.
Never the less, we decided to give
it a try. We signed up for time slots
to work and stayed with some of
our CMA family at Mt. Sequoyah.
We knew nothing about what we
were getting into. Our days started
with breakfast and prayer. Some
were unable to get out in the heat
or do physical activity so they
stayed at camp preparing supplies
for the booths, rolling and bagging
thousands of rag tracts, etc. We
saw that there was loading,
unloading, and setting up to do as
well as making lemonade, filling
water jugs, and preparing coffee.
We saw that besides the ministry
tent there were duty areas that
needed covering, like parking and
gate keeping.
One of the biggest things about
CMA is service. Many times our
testimony is not what we say but
rather what we do. The world
watches and sees. Saturday night
after our work was completed,
John Ogden Jr shared an excellent
devotional related to Matthew
25:35-40. When we serve, we're
doing it as unto the LORD. When
we give of our time, our finances,
and sacrifice self, HIS desires
become our desires.
This year the rally was the same
ol' rally but with a completely different
experience for us. We got to
see the "Home Missions" in action.
We saw the oceans of people as a
great harvest. Sometimes the work
that is required is hot, tiring, and
possibly something that you'll get
dirty doing. That's okay, do it anyway.
Make the coffee so that when
a person comes to get a cup at the
table, someone is able to plant a
seed of faith within them. Direct
traffic so that people can find their
way to the ministry tent safely and
possibly get much needed prayer.
Prepare the material that is going
to be handed out so that when the
time is right, the Holy Spirit will
utilize that seed into the heart of
the person who receives it.
Whatever you have to give, give it
and serve with it. Remember that
GOD has the ability to take our
small offering and do something
great with it. HE just wants a willing
vessel. CMA
