“ TO

everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven”( Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV).
This verse sounds great as a song, doesn’ t it? How about a neat cliché we say to our friends when they ' re going through events in their lives that need an encouraging word? Recently, my family has been able to experience these changing seasons personally. I don’ t know about you, but it’ s easier to sing it or preach than to live it.
Many of you know that our two oldest daughters are adults and live independently now. After six months of an empty nest, we became proud new parents of a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. Our family has grown! The idea of moving out of our house and living on the road for CMA has been dramatically altered. I am 51 years old, raising kids again while they attend school. It reminds me of Proverbs 16:9( NKJV),“ A man’ s heart plans his way, But the Lord
directs his steps.”
I had a plan to ride our big ole cruiser bikes, burning up the highways for Jesus. Now I am spending more time on dirt bikes, camping, and fishing. Does that mean that my heart’ s plan has changed? Well, if the Lord has given me the desires of my heart( Psalm 37:4), and my desire is to share the love of Christ with others one heart at a time, then the plan has not changed … just the steps to accomplish it.
Here’ s my encouragement for today:
We have been asked by God to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world and with CMA, the motorcycling community. It is inevitable that our life circumstances and the world we live in will change. God does not. If we focus on the mission rather than the season, maybe, just maybe, we can remain calm, think clearly, and act decisively for Jesus and those we
love.
This changing world, due to its sinful nature, will require us to adapt and overcome; call an audible, if you will. We may need to adjust what we travel for and how we travel. We may need to rethink our finances, housing, and duration of our excursions. We may need to rethink the places we go and the people we meet. We may need to rethink our daily priorities. Honestly, some of us are( or have) experienced a complete re-think( reordering) of our entire life.
But rest assured, we will NEVER have to rethink who God is, what He has asked us to do, or what He has promised us. If we will“ seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness”( Matthew 6:33, NKJV), these times of change in our lives can be met with excitement and trust. When I was younger, I loved living the life of constant change and the adrenaline of following the Holy Spirit with radical abandonment. As I age, I am not so fond of having my routine changed. BUT GOD …… The only thing changing is the environment in which I am still carrying out the same plan He has always had for me. If I can just get a handle on that plan, I can begin to have fun in the ever-changing world. God and I can begin to party for Jesus, no matter what the season. Oh, and by the way, caring for my aging parents is just around the corner. Praise Jesus. CMA
