Recommended Rides
are looking for lodging, on the right
you will notice the Alton Bay
Christian Conference Center. They
are Christian folks who can provide
you with clean affordable lodging
with views of the lake which is
directly across the street.
Next, continue on Rt. 11 South,
then turn left onto 28A. This is the
southernmost point of the lake.
This is a very curvy road, so even
though the lake views are great,
keep a look out on those sharp
turns. Ride it all the way to Rt. 28
North, turn left towards the beautiful
town of Wolfeboro. This little
town is definitely a place to get off
the bike, stretch your legs, enjoy
the lake setting, and visit some of
the shops in this unique New
England village. Wolfeboro is
known as the oldest vacation community
in New Hampshire! There
are many old stone walls along the
streets that provide the boundary
for some very old farmhouse type
properties.
Leaving Wolfeboro, take Rt. 109
North towards Melvin Village. This
is a nice road to let the wind blow
through you hair. As you come into
Melvin Village those who love old
antique tractors and cars will love
to stop and check out the Village
Old Car Shop.
After you have drooled over the
old tractors and cars, continue on
Rt. 109 all the way to Rt. 25. Turn
right onto 25 East towards
Moultonborough. In the center of
Moultonborough, a must-see and
stop is The Old Country Store on
your right. There is plenty of parking
around the back of the store. As
you enter the store you are going
back in time a couple hundred
years. The old wooden floors lead
you through very unique items that
just call out to you. You will no
doubt have to purchase something
because you will find things that
you will not find anywhere else.
After you have exhausted the limit
on the credit card and the space in
the saddlebags, continue East on
Rt. 25.
Soon you will enter the town of
Meredith. You are now at the
northernmost point of the lake.
Once again, plenty of shopping and
ice cream. There is a nice seafood
restaurant like no other you have
been to. This one is right on the
water and you can eat inside or sit
outside with only sand for a floor.
You don’t even need shoes if you
eat outside, in fact there may be
folks who are in bathing suits that
just came off their boats which are
tied up at the town docks, next to
the restaurant.
Well, you are almost at the end
of your ride as you head South on
Rt. 3 back towards Weirs Beach. I’m
sure you will always remember the
ride around Lake Winnipesaukee.
Stop in and visit our CMA headquarters
at the Weirs Beach
Methodist Church on Tower Street.
Look for the large CMA logo on the
side of the church. You can see it
from the boardwalk on the North
end of the strip. I look forward to
seeing ya’ll there! CMA
