By PETER Helgerson Every year, in the month of June, the oldest motorcycle rally in the country takes place in the little township of Weirs Beach, New Hampshire. Laconia Bike Week draws several thousand bikers to this picturesque lakeside event that is surrounded by the majestic mountainous backdrop. CMA’ers come from all over the country to minister with the love of Jesus at nine different ministry locations and the results for the glory of God are staggering to our human understanding. One of my favorite rides is to take the 65 mile loop around the perimeter of New Hampshire’s largest body of fresh water, Lake Winnipesaukee. From the motorcycle filled streets of Weirs Beach, turn left on Rt. 3 and after going over the bridge, head toward Rt. 11B. On the right side of the turn onto 11B you will notice one of the local’s favorite diner’s, The Weirs Diner. This little breakfast stop is built right on the edge of the lake and is a great way to begin your day with that fresh cup of coffee and morning eggs or pancakes while you watch the boaters passing by. Continuing along Rt. 11B you will soon need to turn left at the traffic signal, which is Rt. 11 East. Across the intersection you will want to make note of Sawyer’s Ice Cream & Burgers. This is a local favorite and a favorite of many bikers who, believe it or not, all seem to enjoy ice cream and burgers. Go figure! Continuing along Rt. 11 East, the views of the lake on your left provide ample locations to take a few pictures for the memory of this one of a kind motorcycle ride. As you are enjoying the curves, mountains, and lake views you will soon come into the village of Alton Bay. Here, there are several shops and places to enjoy a snack, and yes, even ice cream like the Olde Bay Diner. Oh, and if you 12⎪JUNE 2020⎪shop.cmausa.org
