There are several options for the return trip to Sturgis . One good choice would be heading east on Hwy 16A through Custer State Park to Hermosa , north on 79 to Rapid City , and I-90 back to Sturgis .
If you have the time and want to
add another state to your personal ride map , head west from Custer on Hwy 16 through Hell ’ s Canyon ( watch out for the bighorn sheep ) and into New Castle , Wyoming . From there , stay north on Hwy 85 to Sturgis or swing left at Cheyenne Crossing and take Spearfish Canyon Hwy ( 14A West ) for a longer , more scenic route through Spearfish Canyon .
