YOUTH MOVEMENT

UNTIL

I stepped into this position , I was a welder for most of my adult career . Every place I worked in had a program that sought to improve the current processes . If a new process was implemented , you would be financially rewarded . This would give you the motivation to try to improve things .
Today , as I prepare this message , my heart is aching thinking , about those who have ceased to work on improving their walk with God . Those that have a “ relationship ” with God but don ’ t seek Him in making decisions . Those who don ’ t seek Him every day .
Whether you are a student in school or an officer in a chapter , you must seek God in everything you do . However , we must take this even more seriously for those in a position to decide the outcome of things . Whether that ’ s a leadership position in your school , a chapter officer , or a leader in your workplace , decision-making is serious . If we are not continually seeking God in our decisions , how can we be sure that we are in the will of God and making the right decisions ? “ For this very reason , make every effort to add to your faith goodness ; and to goodness , knowledge ; and to knowledge , self-control ; and to self-control , perseverance ; and to perseverance , godliness
; and to godliness , mutual affection ; and to mutual affection , love . For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure , they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ ” ( 2 Peter 1:5-8 , NIV ).
In 2 Peter , it says to make every effort to add to your faith the qualities that keep you from being ineffective and unproductive . So what is it you are doing to grow your faith ? When someone comes to you with an idea , don ’ t be too quick to say no and decide on your own . Instead , ask for some time to pray about it .
What are you doing to invest in your spiritual walk with God besides going to church on Sunday and listening to some worship music ? Are these good things ? Yes , but they can ’ t be all you do to have a relationship with God . For example , think of a friend of yours right now . What has it taken to build that relationship ? It took time together , talking , laughing , crying , joking , and encouraging each other to build that friendship .
I want to encourage you in your daily lives and your CMA chapters to always seek God in your decisions . Always ask God to show you where He wants you to minister . If you are a CMA member , you have decided to follow God ’ s will . And
that starts with prayer . I want to leave you with a quote from F . B . Meyer .
“ I used to think that God ’ s gifts were on shelves one above the other and that the taller we grew in Christian character , the more easily we should reach them . I find now that God ’ s gifts are on shelves one beneath the other and that is not a question of growing taller , but of stooping lower and that we have to go down , always down to get His best ones .” ― F . B . Meyer
There never comes the point in our lives where we no longer need God ’ s wisdom . The more we get on our knees and pray , the more we see God do amazing things . And when this happens , it will result in Psalms 92:12-14 ( NIV ). “ The righteous will flourish like a palm tree , they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon ; planted in the house of the LORD , they will flourish in the courts of God .” CMA
