windy, but we found a nice oasis with a bathroom and big Ponderosas just after we entered the National Park forest.
After a short break, we headed up the amazing highway that leads up to one of the most amazing places you will ever visit; Crater Lake National Park! We rode into Discovery Point for the pictures, and that water was such a deep blue. Crater Lake sits at 6,690’ elevation and is over 1,940’ deep, making it the deepest lake in the United States. Some amazing facts are the lake gets on average 41’ of snowfall each year, and even though it gets very cold, the lake has not frozen since 1949. If visiting the park on a motorcycle, the cost to enter is $ 25 from May 22 through October 31.
This part of the trip is definitely the highlight, but there was much more to see as we headed on around to Hwy 270 through more beautiful mountain forests and roads. I stopped just long enough to get a picture of Mt. Thielsen, a

rugged peak for sure at 9,184’ tall. Next, we stopped at Diamond Lake for a quick gas fill-up, then headed west on Hwy 138 towards Roseburg, with many waterfalls along the way to hike to if desired. The first and easiest waterfall to visit is about 100 yards away, cascading through rocks and logs covered in moss.
We were running short on time as the day was quickly leaving us, so we just headed back towards Roseburg, winding along the North Umpqua River. I have hiked to some of the other falls along the way before, and they are worth it if you have time and want to camp overnight, so you have the next day to explore. All we had eaten that day were snacks we had brought with us, so we decided to stop into Dry Creek Store for an all-beef hot dog. It was quick, and they will add all the fixings you can think of, like kraut, jalapenos, etc.
I can say that this loop had it all. Plenty of curves, very little traffic, awesome forests, and amazing

stops along the way. I spent the day with a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart for the beautiful creation God made for our enjoyment. Spending the day riding with a friend, carving the twisty mountain roads, enjoying fellowship along the way, and seeing truly breathtaking sites like Crater Lake is a day to be thankful for!
