Perpetual Expansion By Ben Horner
A plethora of dispensaries around the state are growing in size as the cream rises to the top. Demand for high quality meds has forced many to expand their gardens and increase production. This is the case at the Northwest Wellness Center in Denver and SoCo MMJ in Colorado Springs. Whether remodeling or relocating, expanding the scope of service is a frantic chore that signals prosperity for the industry.
In Denver, owner of Northwest Wellness Center Joel Meaney is building up. Joel was extremely friendly and gave us a tour of the remodeling. The facilities multiple grow rooms are being overhauled for multi-tiered growing to maximize the operations. All organic strains are growing well despite being moved around during the construction. The interior is being refurbished as well, with upgrades to the bud room with a viewing station of the grow, visible behind the counter filled with finished product. Economic development created by the blood sweat and tears of these folks shows true entreprenuaral spirit. Growing Colorado’ s economy in a grass roots fashion is very typical throughout the state. Reinvesting in their business these owners are not just expanding their business, they are creating new jobs and an emerging market.
Southern Colorado Medical Marijuana LLC( SoCo MMJ) is moving to a larger facility in Colorado Springs and should be in their new building by the first of August. Owner Elisa Kappelmann has been pioneering the industry since the beginning. After braving the challenges of starting a MMJ business in Colorado Springs, SoCo developed a strong connection within their community. The need to expand has forced this Mom-and-Pop business into a bigger space to accommodate the growing base of patients that they care for.
