Adhesive Side Printing
Flood Coat
Adhesive side printing offers the option of printing on both sides of the
label. Not available on removable stock.
Flood coat is the process of applying ink over the entire label to change
the color of the stock prior to printing the design.
Gap
The space between two labels; ⅛" is standard.
Back Slit
Liner Side Printing
Labels with a back slit are cut on the
back of the liner for quick and
easy removal.
Also known as backside printing, liner side printing is printed on the liner
of the label. This is often used to offer coupons, share business address
and hours, or to promote upcoming events.
Backwards Copy
Backwards copy offers a unique
option for sticker placement on the inside of windows, allowing it to be
used in storefront windows or in vehicles for car permits. The text or
image is printed backwards, allowing the label to be applied on the inside
of a window yet remain readable from the outside.
A square cut label with a slit on one
end for easier peeling and removal.

Bleed
The stock material surrounding a die cut label.
Outside Diameter
A bleed is a printed image that
extends off the edge of the paper.
Artwork should exceed 1⁄16" beyond
the label size on all sides. Example: Artwork for a 2" x 3" label with bleeds
on all four sides would measure 2⅛" x 3⅛".
Outside

the roll of labels at its widest point,
including the core.

Registration
The arrangement of two or more printed images or colors in exact
alignment with each other.
Reverse
In a reverse, the image is created by the stock showing through as the
imprint. As an example, a white label with black ink would appear as a
black label with a white imprint.
Square Cut Labels
Copy Position
Square cut labels feature right angle corners,
and each label butts against the next one
on the roll with no gap or unused liner
between labels.
Also known as the unwind, copy position signifies which direction the
copy comes off the roll. This is critical for machine applied labels.
UV Varnish
A thin protective coating that is bonded and
cured with ultra-violet light, providing moisture protection but not UV ray
protection. Available in high gloss or matte sheens.

A clear film that provides additional protection against moisture,
chemical, oil, abrasion, or UV resistance.
Gloss Lamination provides a high gloss appearance
Matte Lamination a low glare surface enables electronic scanning
