artist . Jason “ Blue ” Herbert executed her scenery with his characteristic craftsmanship , coupled with his dramatic and atmospheric soundscapes . They are joined by the incomparable Joni Dee Sackett for costumes , and introducing Chicagobased lighting designer , Sam Stephen .
Upstairs , Mic Evans makes his TCR directorial debut with Clue . Well , that is , his adult TCR directing debut . As our education director , Mic creates and stages our popular youth performance camps and directs for area educational organizations . An audience favorite on stage ( recent roles : SpongeBob SquarePants , Monty Navarro , and Quasimodo ), Mic acutely understands the process from the performer ' s perspective and has imparted his own seasoned methods and sense of play to this group of silly murder suspects .
Our resident artist , S . Benjamin Farrar (“ Stuben ”), delivers his 12 th auditorium show with this playground of tricks , surprises , and reveals . The Clue mansion is a deceptively complex design , deftly realized by our technical director , Ben Lauer , and our incredible pro carpenters , welders , and master painters ( along with an army of paint volunteers ). All are joined by our brilliant costume design director , Jess Helberg , Tyler Salow in his TCR sound design debut , and – pulling
off a true Halloween miracle – Sam Stephen lights both Clue and The Woman in Black !
While I am extremely proud of our TCR artists , production team , and staff for delivering this mega- Halloween party , none of this would be possible – or even necessary – without the performers and crew who give their time , hearts , minds , imaginations , courage , and kindness . These two productions welcome both new faces and many frequent performers and crew members . Every person on both stages and behind the scenes has pushed and challenged themselves and one another in new ways . I am consistently moved by their boundless energy and passion to bring you these stories .
Clue and The Woman in Black kick off a joyful , exuberant season-long celebration of the outstanding talent in our community . Thank you for being here and for supporting live theater . You are both the welcoming porch lights and the candy in our trick-or-treat bags . We will work tirelessly all season to dream big , surprise , and delight you !
Cheers and glowy pumpkins ! ( And black cats , of course ),
Angie Toomsen TCR Producing Artistic Director
