CLUBSKILLSGUIDE Games are the basis of basketball activity, but preparation and training with learning and coaching of the basic skills becomes the key determinant of player and coach satisfaction. Junior programmes, including academies, need to plan and coach the basic skills well. Development and national programmes within the home countries’ framework will serve as open access for club coach learning. Even our very best players have common weaknesses that, if addressed, would significantly improve the performance of our club teams and the quality of our competitions, as well as our national teams. The AoE also allow us to establish international best practice in key aspects of the game which, in time, will result in skills being taught similarly across the nation, from club to school, league to country.
