CLUBSKILLSGUIDE
Games are the basis of basketball activity,
but preparation and training with learning
and coaching of the basic skills becomes
the key determinant of player and coach
satisfaction. Junior programmes, including
academies, need to plan and coach the
basic skills well.
Development and national programmes
within the home countries’ framework will
serve as open access for club coach
learning. Even our very best players have
common weaknesses that, if addressed,
would significantly improve the
performance of our club teams and the
quality of our competitions, as well as our
national teams. The AoE also allow us to
establish international best practice in key
aspects of the game which, in time, will
result in skills being taught similarly across
the nation, from club to school, league to
country. We want to be coaching
efficiently and focusing on the key aspects.

Delivering the Basic Skills
If we keep doing what we
have always done, we will
always get what we have
already got!
