Middendorp completes Emma Young Park boat dock on way to Eagle Scout rank

The Boy Scouts of America is still the nation ’ s foremost youth program for character development and values-based leadership training .
BSA Troop 642 is chartered through the First United Methodist Church at 236 Seventh Ave . South , Clinton ; Matt Steenhard is its Scout Master . His troop is having a lot of fun , and one of his Scouts , Ethan Middendorp , is also about to earn the highest possible rank in Scouting , that of Eagle Scout .
Steenhard was once a young Scout in North Central Iowa , achieving what ’ s now the Arrow of Light rank , the highest to be attained in Cub Scouting . Because the nearest troop to his home was 20 to 30 miles away , though , he left the Scouts when he was in fifth grade .
