This spring, Renown Oncology Wellness moved into its new home in the Conrad Breast Center. The space includes a multipurpose room for cancer support groups, fitness classes, workshops and other group activities. Two dedicated consultation rooms host one-on-one patient visits with Dr. Hardacre, and a therapy room accommodates massage and other services. In the salon, specialized hair and beauty services are designed to support patients’ confidence and well-being through their journey.
Shaping Healthier Journeys Individualized oncology wellness appointments with Dr. Hardacre form the foundation of Renown Oncology Wellness.
“ With a background in lifestyle medicine, my care is aligned with the evidence-based pillars of this specialty – nutrition, physical activity, stress management, restorative sleep, social connections and healthy relationships,” Dr. Hardacre says.“ These everyday experiences play a profound role in our health, and research continues to show that they improve physical and mental well-being and may also reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.”
After meeting with patients, Dr. Hardacre recommends wellness services that could improve their quality of life and help them reach their goals. Still building a constellation of program offerings, Dr. Hardacre launched a walking group as one of the first wellness initiatives. This group, she says, allows patients and caregivers to incorporate physical activity into their daily routine while building a community of support.
Dr. Hardacre also envisions including healthy cooking demonstrations, exercise and mind-body classes, a book club, patient and caregiver support groups and services, and art and music therapy in the program’ s offerings supported by philanthropic donations.
“ We recognize the financial burden many of our patients experience during their cancer journey and are committed to providing programs that foster a sense of wellness without adding to that strain,” Dr. Hardacre says.“ We want to honor the full human experience, not just the cancer diagnosis.”
