Ben Hogan, who is generally considered one of the greatest golfers in the history of the game, used to be a golf professional in Cleburne.
Hogan served as the golf pro at Nolan River Country Club— which eventually became the Cleburne Golf Links— in 1931-32. Hogan began caddying at the Glen Garden Country Club when his family moved to Fort Worth in the 1920s.
Before his retirement from golf, Ben had won 64 PGA tournaments, fourth all-time behind Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. Out of 292 career tournaments, Ben finished in the top three 139 times and in the top ten 241 times.

Cleburne Golf Links is a true links style 18-hole golf course with beautiful views and a peaceful setting on Lake Pat Cleburne. The course layout features interesting holes and a fun layout for all skill levels.
The course, which opened in 2009, plays 7,068 yards for the longest tees. The golf course opens at 7 a. m. daily and closes 30 minutes prior to sunset. Driving range hours adjust seasonally. Call for current hours of operation.

The Retreat is a private course designed to provide members with the highest quality golf experience. It is used by organizations for golf tournaments as well.
The 7,046-yard, par-72 course has five tees per hole with unexpected elevation changes throughout. Four hundred nineteen Bermuda Fairways gracefully wind through the trees and TifEagle Greens have a distinctive design that enhance the natural beauty of the land. Prominent design features include 400-foot wide corridors from tee to green and two double fairways.
The Clubhouse hosts the Golf Pro Shop, plus The Clubhouse Restaurant and meeting areas. Locker rooms are available for members and their guests. Both casual and fine dining are available, including a private banquet room, bar and outdoor patio overlooking the signature 18th hole.
