18 | NOV. 2016 Rural Addresses What is a rural address? Your rural address is not a mailing address. The rural address or blue sign at the end of driveways acts as your physical address when making calls to 911, as well as utility companies, line locators and delivery drivers. Your rural address is not a mailing address. Rural addresses follow the same principle as a street address in town. Examples: “412031 RGE RD 6-0” means the house is located north of Township Road 41-2 and is on Range Road 6-0 or “54045 TWP RD 38-0” indicates this house is west of Range Road 5-4 and is located along Township Road 38-0. Rural addresses increase going from south to north and east to west. The last three numbers are based on a 40m grid and where your driveway falls within the mile. Even-numbered addresses fall on the north or west side of the road, odd numbers fall on the south or east side of the road. For more information and diagrams, please visit www.clearwatercounty.ca.
