Hot in the city
On what was the hottest day of the year
so far, in mid-July, Clearview magazine
took the 2-hour train journey (which was
gratefully air-conditioned!) to the country’s
capital to celebrate Epwin Group’s 40
years of manufacturing at the launch of its
new display at London’s Building Centre.
»»WITH 40 YEARS OF
manufacturing innovative and
market changing building, door
and window systems, in PVCu,
GRP and thermoplastics, the
company made a bold statement
that it is continuing these
traditions with more of the same,
through the launch of the new
display at The Building Centre,
Store Street, London.
First established in 1931,
The Building Centre exists
to promote innovation in the
built environment and has
developed to become a not-forprofit organisation dedicated to
providing education, information
and inspiration to all sectors of
the built environment, as well as
the general public. The building
on South Crescent, Store Street,
in central London, is open to
all involved in architecture and
construction. Many leading
organisations, individuals and
companies connected with
environmental issues and building
have chosen to make their home
there, providing them with a
central London location from
which to target specifiers.
Epwin’s creative new
permanent Building Centre
exhibition allows a snapshot of
the Group’s products offered
for commercial specification
including the brand new PVCu
window system Optima; a new
flush tilt and turn window from
Profile 22; products and systems
offered with Building Information
Modelling compliance; and a
selection of low maintenance
products that include bi-folding,
patio and entrance doors together
with ranges of low maintenance
building trims and finishes,
and rainwater, drainage and
roofline products. At the core
of everything Epwin produces is
innovation, both in the design
and application of the products
but crucially, in terms of their
environmental impact throughout
their lifecycle.

The display also now includes
products from Stormking and
Ecodek, which joined the Epwin
Group last year. Stormking
manufactures products such as
dormer windows, porch roofs and
canopies and other components
for the house-building sector
whilst Ecodek manufactures a
recycled, durable, wood polymer
composite decking board system
with a wide range of uses in
building and construction.
Epwin’s Marketing Manager
Alan Calverley explains the
goals of the new display:
“With such a large portfolio
of building products our task
was to communicate the depth
and breadth of the product
ranges and also to allow the
specifier an opportunity to learn
the philosophy behind their
development and production,
achieving this with little more
than a glance. We invite visitors
to judge for themselves if we have
succeeded.”
And succeed they have. The
stand’s design naturally navigates
the specifier from one side to
the other on a journey through
a comprehensive package of
commercial products, with
examples in situ. The stand
has generated a number of key
tenders and specifications and has
proven invaluable in supporting
the Epwin Group’s work with its
local authority clients.
