Manufacturing Efficiency Workshops
»»Bob Scott (Window
Manufacturing Consultant) has developed
a series of Window & Door Production
Management Workshops, through his
company AnT Training.
‘cover all aspects of
production management’
Starting in June, the two-day workshops
will cover all aspects of production
management, based on Lean Manufacturing
+ Theory of Constraints methods, adapted
specifically for the window industry. There
will be three workshops in the series, starting
with foundation, intermediate and advanced
production management methods.
Each workshop in the series will be
focused on giving participants production
improvement methods to take away and
implement in their organisation.
The workshops are suitable for production
managers/supervisors/team leaders and
anyone involved or interested in improving
the manufacturing process. The benefits of
lean manufacture apply equally to a smaller
fabricator over the entire production line as to
the larger producer in specific key areas.
Bob’s interest to get companies to improve
production efficiency without investing in
high consultancy cost is the reason behind the
creation of the courses. The two-day workshops
cost £499 , and initial courses will be held in the
Midlands, at the Ashorne Hill training facility.

Renewing Support
»»The VEKA UK Group
has named the Encephalitis
Society as its nominated charity
for 2015.
Gabriela Hammond, Head of
Human Resources at The VEKA
UK Group commented: “This is
a cause that’s close to our hearts
and, as such, The VEKA UK
Group is dedicating a full year’s
support to the society as opposed
to the normal six-months.
“Fundraising got off to a flying
start in January, with many staff
members staying ‘dry’. March’s
Network VEKA AGM saw
members donate over £700 to use
the ‘70s-themed props, supplied
for the evening’s entertainment.”
If you’d like to keep up
with The VEKA UK Group’s
fundraising activities, news
is regularly posted on both
its website and social media
accounts. Gabriela continues:
“Besides the events and activities
we’re hosting, there are lots more
planned that we’re welcoming
customers and suppliers to get
involved with too.
