FABRICATOR HELPS HOME FOR A HERO PROJECT
»»KIND HEARTED VOLUNTEERS AND
generous companies have combined to assist
an East Midlands project in giving a longterm unoccupied home a new lease of life for
soldiers returning from conflict.
Derby electrician, Tim Cox, launched the
Home for a Hero project, in conjunction
with Derventio Housing trust, a charity
that supports homeless people, because he
was upset at how soldiers were treated when
coming home from overseas.
He was astounded at the amount of
assistance the scheme has attracted from
friends, family, tradesmen and businesses that
have rallied to the cause. The first property was

cleared and ready for renovation in just two
days with 19 people pitching in!
And one of those companies, Liniar
fabricator Midland Glass, was more than
happy to do their bit for the commendable
scheme.
Priding itself on manufacturing high quality
products, Midland was the first fabricator in
the region to gain Liniar Approved Fabricator
status.
John Walker, Midland Glass Production
Manager, explains, “A good customer of ours,
Chris Chatburn of UPVC Specialist, asked if
we could offer any help. We were delighted to
get involved.” Midland Glass manufactured
and supplied the white half-glazed PVCu door
for free.

RAISING A GLASS TO CHARITY
»»MORLEY GLASS & GLAZING HAS
sponsored the 5th Annual North Leeds
Charity Beer Festival, which featured cask
ales from Yorkshire and Wales in a Tykes vs
Taffies challenge.
The Leeds-based sealed unit manufacturer
and ScreenLine® integral blinds supplier was
headline sponsor of the three-day festival
run by the Rotary Club of Roundhay
in association with North Leeds Cricket
Club.
The aim of the festival is to provide
unusual beers from Yorkshire micro and
independent breweries for people to enjoy,
to stimulate debate and to help raise
charitable funds. Since the inaugural festival
in 2012 it has raised over £15,000 for local
charities and projects, with the 2016 festival
adding another £7,000 to the pot.
Ian Short, Managing Director of

festival generates great support from the
local community and is an excellent and
innovative way to raise much-needed funds
for local charities and good causes.”

partnerships with Konrad Hornschuch AG
and VEKA AG.
CoolSkin® is the preferred doorskin
material for companies such as Endurance®
Doors and Solidor, thanks to its proven longterm performance in all climatic conditions.
Furthermore, recent tests have shown that
other door skin materials promoted within
the panel and composite door sector can
delaminate, warp and crack. That illustrates,
says the business, the importance of
specifying CoolSkin®.
With the unique construction and
chemical make up of the Cool Colors
foils from Hornschuch, combined with
the proven performance of a VEKAPLAN
substrate, the result is a near flawless
performing product, which is exclusive to
3D Laminates.
At Fensterbau 3D Laminates, Hornschuch
and VEKA extended their exclusive trading
relationship to help further develop the
CoolSkin® product range, as consumers
look to the new generation of solid timber
composite doors with lifelike woodgrains
and colours.
