Taking to the Road
The weekend of the 26th - 27th June, saw
members of staff from The VEKA UK Group taking
to two wheels to raise funds for the company’s
nominated charity, The Encephalitis Society.
»»The cyclists’ route covered
100 miles of beautiful Wiltshire countryside
over the two days, passing landmarks such as
the Avebury Stone Circle, Stonehenge and the
Wiltshire White Horses.
The VEKA UK Group chose to support
The Encephalitis Society after Mark Barsby,
Head of Technical was diagnosed with an
autoimmune form of Limbic Encephalitis
last year, and in discussion with Head of
Commercial Sales, Richard Garland and Head
of Product Management, Steve Bakewell, he
planned the challenge as part of the company’s
year-long fundraising programme for the
charity.
Mark explained: “I wanted to do my bit
and put something back for the help The
Encephalitis Society had given me. Steve gave
us some ideas as he had already taken part in
similar events to raise money for charity.”
Colin Torley, Sales and Marketing Director
for The VEKA UK Group, commented:
“What a great way to raise funds and
awareness for The Encephalitis Society!
100 miles over two days is an admirable
achievement for all that took part.
“Everybody has really gotten behind
it including four of our management
team, raising funds by running the Great
Manchester 10k, and there’s loads more
planned throughout the year.”

immensely since it was first
created and our product portfolio
had expanded greatly.
“The new site launched last
September, and was purposely
designed to help promote
our new branding and create
awareness for our products, we
never imagined how well the
online ordering section of the site
would go, but we have seen an
excellent up-take and use of the
new feature.”
The new website displays all of
Debar’s current product ranges
including; Protec magnetic door
holders, Robus steel locks and the
complete selection of Vivo and
Verso door handles. The site also
gives visitors the opportunity to
