NEW TEXTURED BLACK FINISH

» DECORIO, A RANGE OF steel-look aluminium windows and doors from Affordable Windows Group, has released a new Textured Black finish for their internal range.
Responding to installer demand, Lancashire-based AWG has also shared that Textured Black will now become the standard finish across the entire Decorio Internal Collection of doors and screens.
The new finish addresses a common customer concern with traditional matte black frames: visible fingerprints and the need for frequent cleaning. The textured surface is significantly more resistant to marking, allowing homeowners to enjoy their internal doors and partition screens with minimal maintenance.
“ We’ ve listened carefully to feedback from our trade partners and their customers,” said Amelia Gaughan, Head of Marketing for AWG.“ While matte black remains hugely popular for its sleek appearance, the reality of daily use means fingerprints become an issue, particularly in high-traffic areas and family homes. Our Textured Black finish solves this problem whilst maintaining the sophisticated steel-look aesthetic that makes these products so desirable.”
The change reflects Decorio’ s focus on creating products designed for realworld use. Installers have noted that the textured surface is more forgiving in terms of maintenance, making it ideal
for busy households or commercial environments where internal doors and screens see constant use.
Installers seeking the original Matte Black finish can still specify this finish, though a longer lead time may apply.
The Textured Black finish is available now across Decorio’ s full range of internal hinged doors, sliding doors, and partition screens, with weekly deliveries across the UK.

Bridging heritage aesthetics and modern living

» AS HOME RENOVATION REMAINS popular, and with the focus being on the acquisition and refurbishment of rural properties, this has resulted in Steel Window Association( SWA) members reporting a higher than usual demand for the replacement of the traditional W20 style windows.
The W20 closely replicates the appearance of the older universal suite of sections and can therefore be found providing reliable service from country cottages to dockland warehouses and in commercial, as well as industrial buildings.
Not only do the slimline sections offer slender sightlines compared to PVC-U and timber frames, but their strength also provides good security and long-term robustness. In addition, the advancements made in glass technology and the availability of much improved weather-stripping means that the modern W20 window delivers far better energy performance than their single-glazed predecessors. The President of the SWA and Contracts Director at Associated Steel Window Services, Kris Bennell, comments:“ W20 steel frames are the ever reliable, ever popular traditional option for the sector, which are liked by both planners
and heritage bodies for use in a host of different property types.
“ The glazing beads mean it is possible for new and refurbished W20 windows to accept up to 16mm thick IG units; and these in turn can feature low-E coatings on the glass, warm edge spacer bars and argon, krypton or xenon gas filling to deliver much improved U-values. It can also accommodate vacuum glass which gives a far superior centre pane thermal U value. W20 is a system which can work in a summerhouse or a commercial building in London and as a stylish room divider or shower screen. It is just so versatile.”
The SWA offers UK wide coverage with member companies able to carry out the full range of contracts from the repair and restoration of heritage windows through to the installation of major fenestration packages in contemporary commercial, residential and other types of developments.
