Client-driven / customer driven
In terms of products , customers already have all they need to make that sale with UCD ’ s extensive range of colours , styles , combinations , and core types .
Communication is so important to deliver the unwelcome news along with the good news in a timely manner . We have seen over the years so much frustration when companies just seem to stop talking with their customers . Sometimes people just need someone to confirm a delivery date or that a replacement part has been dispatched and when they will receive it .
UCD always tries to be proactive with regards to processes ; anticipating problems early and communicating quickly . UCD has found that if a door will miss its initial delivery date , for whatever reason , internal quality control or a supplier stock out , when customers are advised beforehand then it isn ’ t the issue it becomes when no one talks to them .
One stop shop / supply
As composite doors have grown in popularity in the retail sector , UCD has seen so many more customers dual-source their composite doors need . These could be due to lead time , core time or even leads generated by that supplier .
UCD ’ s view is that customers should be able to offer all these choices from one brochure ; therefore negating the need to dual source and therefore have a real relationship with a driven and focused door supplier .
The ethos is to always be as flexible as possible when it comes to approach , listening to customer needs and understanding their requirements .
Connectivity between departments
Internal Sales , Processing and Manufacturing all need to work in absolute harmony to ensure that everything comes together . Each and every team member all understand each other ’ s roles and responsibilities and work together to ensure the processes work seamlessly .
Shop floor interdepartmental communication is created by effective departmental leadership . Each team leader works closely with each other to ensure an efficient and dynamic production flow throughout the factory . In a previous interview in Clearview , readers will have seen how Andy and Denise ( Factory Manager and Office Manager ) work hand-in-hand to ensure effective communications throughout the business , linking everything together .
Technical team & support
UCD has created a proactive Technical Team that is innovative and focused on continuous improvement . There ’ s vast amounts of experience across the board , with Dean Human , UCD ’ s Technical Manager leading this area of the business .
UCD is always there to support customers before , during and after production to ensure customer satisfaction doesn ’ t stop when the door is delivered . This is underpinned by a close working relationship with all major suppliers ; working together on projects to improve not only in-house products , but that of the industry itself .
