of problems that were created by the decisions
of the past administration, like changing
the name back from The CleanTrust to
IICRC, standards that have lost their ANSI
Accreditation because of improper record
keeping (again under the former leadership)
and other serious problems. But be prepared
for some very, very significant announcements
about to come forth in the very near future
that will demonstrate the current leadership’s
dedication to the proper use of funds and the
promotion of the standards and certification
of our industry.
The real muscle of the IICRC is in its
volunteers, now numbering in the hundreds.
These are the ones who believe in what the
IICRC stands for and what it represents. They
are not paid, even one dollar, but contribute
tens of thousands of hours to building and
promoting the best standards and certification
requirements that our industry can make
available. I salute them. You too can become
a volunteer and get involved. It is much
easier to sit on the side line and be critical,
much more difficult to get involved, spend
your time and energy to improve a process
or organization. If you are interested in
volunteering go to this Web page http://iicrc.
org/contact-us/form/ and let them know what
your capabilities are and what area you have
an interest in.
As to your suggestions, even though
you say the money belongs to “you,” I guess
you mean the registrants, even though this
is not true as the registrants to do not own
the IICRC. It behooves any nonprofit,
including the IICRC, to be transparent as
to how the funds that they collect are spent.
There is a website that you can go and get
a copy of the document that spells this out;
it is called a 990. Here is how and where
you can get it. http://foundationcenter.org/
findfunders/990finder/ and enter IICRC’s

I am going to forward your idea of having
an online suggestion box to the marketing
committee which oversees the IICRC
Website.
In the meantime, Rob, I admire your
love for the industry and dedication to it. I
share your love and it has been my lifelong
business dream to see the industry united
under one organization that has as its core
a concern for the industry and the keen
desire to see it progress to ever-increasing
levels of professionalism. That organization
is the International Inspection, Cleaning,
& Restoration Council of Associations
(IICRCA) and I am going to promote it and
champion it at every opportunity that I have.
Respectfully Submitted,
Fritz Thompson
