MARKETING By Mary Dixon 2. Local Contests: In our town, the local newspaper holds a area wide “Best of” contest that allows your customers to vote for your business being best in your field. They hold this every year and give Gold, Silver and Bronze winners, along with a large banner to put up in front of your shop. This is another amazing marketing tool- not only is your name already being spoken about just by the nomination, but now your customers are reminded of you, to vote, and new customers have the chance to check your WEBSITE out and see what services you offer! Its a win-win for everyone! 3. Social Media: I know that we have spoken about this over and over again, but its never not true- have a social media presence!!! Customers check these things these days, and if your business has a page that isn’t kept up with, or worse, doesn’t have one at all, your customer is more than likely going to walk away. Sure, you’ll always have those clients that have used your services since you have been open, but you want MORE clients. Don’t limit yourself, and don’t fall behind. Also, don’t forget to “Like” other businesses close to you- they have just as much potential to be new clients as an ordinary customer! 4. Before and After Photos: THESE ARE GOLD! If you encounter a horror job and pull it off with amazing results, DOCUMENT IT!!! The strongest testimony is your own work. If you post what a job looked like a disaster beforehand, and a dream afterwards, well that is worth any amount of marketing- best of all? Its completely free. Use your smartphone to document these things always. There’s no exact way to market that works the same for everyone- but these tips should serve you well enough to see a spike in business!! Happy Marketing! 23
