FEATURE Fecal Matters By Alan Thornton A lady in my BNI group asked me to clean carpet. Older lady had not been checked on for a while. She had smeared poop all over the house. Kitchen counters, refrigerator, carpet, and furniture. Her son and health worker were trying to get her out of there but she wouldn’t leave. I cleaned the furniture and was cleaning carpet when I saw her sitting on the sofa I had just cleaned. You guessed it poop on her hands and the arm of the sofa. I told the cleaning lady and they got her cleaned up. They were calling an ambulance and health services. I asked if they could wait 20 minutes till I was done. I finished up and got out of there. I don’t remember what I charged but it wasn’t enough. I have another one about the guy who lived and died in an 18 foot travel trailer, but I have pushed that one out of my mind!!! College Woes By Lynne Boole Early on in my career I had to do a suicide clean up for a William and Mary student. The young man’s roommate had been charged with crimes that possibly could have affected him. He chose to go in the dorms bathroom and place a shotgun to his head and pull the trigger. So our crew suited up and did our job. They had counselors on site if we needed so. During the cleaning it was all adrenaline. We near the end and tell the officer there that we were nearly done. I’ll never forget he was 6.4 he stood outside the bathroom door and on the top sill took down a piece of skull. I was shocked that for one it traveled that far and for two we missed it. Any way we cleaned again long story short, that was a long ride home that night. I will be haunted by that memory probably forever. Lord of the Flies By Darryl Hooper Cleaned a carpet after a body was found in the house. They estimated it was there for 3 weeks. Replaced the pad, cleaned the carpet. Then I sucked up the thousands of dead flies. 10
