Championed by Daniel Barenboim and renowned for the clarity and feeling of his Beethoven playing, pianist Saleem Abboud Askhar begins his series, reaching across the coming seasons, of the seminal piano sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven with the outward glitter of the C major Sonata, the fate-filled C minor Sonata and the almost naïve purity of the sonata in E flat. Finally he plays the most famous of all – the singing restraint and brooding unrest of Beethoven’ s iconic‘ Moonlight’ Sonata.
