Creative Week
Creative Week 2013 Kicks
Off October 19
Creative Week is a seven-day festival of ideas, innovation and imagination in Iowa’s Creative Corridor.
With over 60 events stretching
across seven counties, it’s the region’s one and only opportunity to
explore and celebrate all the creative work, innovative ideas and incredible art created
in the Corridor.
Creative Week is a
product of The
Creative Corridor
Project, an initiative
to connect, support
and inspire all
those who create
in Benton, Cedar,
Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and
Washington counties. The project is
coordinated by Seed Here Studio
and supported by some of the region’s biggest companies, nonprofits, municipalities, associations
and government entities.
Innovative companies and creative
organizations around the region will
host events the week of October
19-26 to show off what they create
in the corridor. Cedar County
events being held during Creative
Week include Open Coffees in Tipton and Durant and participation by
Cummins Manufacturing in Advancing the Future-A Tour of Corridor
Manufacturers.
Cummins
Manufacturing
will be one of
over 30 corridor manufacturers who will
open their
doors during
Creative Week
to help communities better
understand
what is created
in their own
backyards and also learn about available jobs. Tours of Cummins Manufacturing will be open to the public
Monday, October 21 from 10 AM –
12 PM and 1 PM – 3 PM. Tipton’s
Open Coffee will be Thursday, October 24 beginning at 8 AM at A
Place to Land and Durant’s coffee
will be Monday, October 21 beginning at 8 AM at Hill of Beans. The
Open Coffees are an opportunity
for local citizens to meet and discuss such topics as economic development, entrepreneurship, education, and community engagement.
Creative Week 2013 is the first festival of its kind in Iowa and never
before has there been a seven-day
celebration of creativity and innovation that has spanned the spectrum
of art, technology, performance,
research, business, community
building and literature nor has there
been an event that has encompassed the entire 4,400 square miles
that make up Iowa’s Creative Corridor.
