Irati Artola, Rotterdam Consultant at Trinomics, The Netherlands What is your role in ClairCity? I am the project manager for ClairCity, coordinating the work across the team, ensuring deadlines are met. I am also involved in the policy research aspect of the project, as my background is in Environmental Governance. What interests you in the project? Sustainable development is my passion and I am really fond of cities and city life. If we want to preserve our planet for future generations, we need to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our cities. If we want to enhance 7 Rotterdam is vibrant, multicultural, aesthetically unique and experimental. Unfortunately cars are quite prominent in Rotterdam. I want a car-free city centre and the banning of mopeds on bicycle lanes. Overall, I would love to see innovations in sustainability – from locally sourced, organic restaurants to innovative solutions to waste. What do you like about your city? Budapest is a dynamic city with many challenges. I like the cultural heritage of the city and the new open spaces in the city centre. What do you hope for the future of your city? I hope Budapest will be a more sustainable and healthy city in the next 30 years due to the efforts of citizens and policy makers on transport, energy use, improvement of the quality of the environment and public services in the city in the future.
