REFLECTION
Overall I enjoyed Art & Culture and I think it changed my
perspective on art and culture quite a bit. Art & Culture is
very different from any of my other subjects. It is not a
subject where we get a textbook and learn things by heart
or need to solve problems. What you learn in Art & Culture is
very personal and I think you kind of chose yourself what
you learn. I think Art and Culture is mostly about selfdevelopment, especially regarding art and culture of course.
At first I did not like Art & Culture at all, because I didn’t feel
like I was learning anything and I was not really interested
in art and culture myself. I learned to like this subject more
as I got older and started appreciating art and learning
about new and different cultures. What I like most about Art
& Culture is that it is still very personal, like I said it is about
‘self’-development. For your CA’s you can chose yourself
where you want to go and what you like to see or hear. This
way it doesn’t get boring. Also your interpretations of what
you see, hear or do, which you write about in your CA’s are
very personal, as everyone has different thoughts about art.
This way you create your own taste and style in art. We also
learned a lot of general information about art and culture
which taught me to appreciate it more. For our fixed
assignments, usually the PA’s, we didn’t always get to
choose our own subject. However we did give it our own
twist and when we still didn’t like are subject we would at
least get to work in groups.
So Art & Culture would never get boring. I may not always
have enjoyed Art & Culture especially because I was never
really interested in art nor culture, but after these years of
Art & Culture I have noticed that I appreciate art and culture
a lot more and I can even say that I enjoy going to certain
museums and performances. I also learned that art doesn’t
have to be boring, like opera or classical music which I don’t
like at all, but can also be cabaret, dance, mimes, etc. which
I enjoy very much.
