Jeffersion Davis: The first President of the Confederate States of American was born on June 3, 1808. Similar to General Lee, Davis attended West Point. After his graduation, Davis served in the Black Hawk War. After his first wife's untimely death, Davis married Varina Howell. Shortly after, Davis served on the House of Represenatives. However, the Mexican War soon called for his attention. After the conflict ended, he served in the Senate. After a promotion to Secretary of War, Davis returned to his Senate position until Mississipi seceeded from the Union. After this, he was elected President of the Confederacy and he has been working to further the Southern cause ever since.
