Robert E. Lee: Our great general was born on January 19, 1807. As a graduate of West Point, Lee was able to use his military prowess in the War with Mexico and eventually earn the title of colonel. After the war, Lee taught at West Point while serving as superintendent. This lasted until he was called upon to stop the rebellion caused by the abolitionist John Brown at Harper's Ferry. After Virginia seceeded from the Union, Lee remained loyal to the Southern cause and resigned from the Union army. Ever since then, Lee has been able to secure victories in locations such as Fredricksburg and Chancellorsville.
