he France Pavilion
project, designed by X-TU
(Anouk Legendre e Nicolas
Desmazière) is an ensemble
composed by many elements:
an exhibition space, a covered
and an open sky market inside
an inverted landscape. Every
part could be disassembled
and reusable to play other
exhibitions, not only about
food or nutrition, everywhere
will be useful a sustainable
and multifunctional pavilion.
The building cover a 3600
sqm surface, it’s a passive
construction and naturally
aired; the structure is made
on Glulam produced and
tailored by a French company
Simonin, the assembly will
be coordinated by CMC
Ravenna. The pavilion takes
inspiration from two sources:
the first one, a symbolic place
in the French food culture: the
covered market (Baltard type),
we can find in every town and
it represents one of the Expo
Milano 2015 theme; the other
one came from the rural and
hill landscape that define the
transalpine topography, it was
selected a peculiar piece of it,
extruded and deduct to gross
volume assigned.
Walking along the covered
Decumano, pass over
Piazza Italia, on the right side
appears a strange parterre
made in vegetables, herbs
and asparagus, just to see
or smell. At the entrance,
top right, small screens LED
play continuously the idea
