City Beat 1 | Seite 4

March is women’s History Month and in this issue, we’ll shine the light on a few luminaries who have and are making a difference in our society and the world. Our cover story is clear example of such women.

City Beat is pleased to have two of Springfield, MA’s most recognizable, contemporary historical figures in Carol and Alysia Cutting, who are the first black, independent, women to own a commercial radio station in the New England marketplace.

Their success story is one of classic inspiration told echoes countless historical predecessors of the black experience. The most common threads that they articulate are to be persistent, tenacious, involved with the community and have faith.

This month is also one of the most active times in American sports as we begin March Madness.

I would be remissed if I didn't give a shout out to the UConn women’s basketball team for their remarkable record

of 105 straight wins and counting.

We have an extraordinary June edition of City Beat Mag planned so definitely stayed connected with us.

Feel free to share your comments about City Beat Mag with us so that we can continue to improve and become the publication that we can be.
