THE CITRUS SINGERS CHORUS
The Citrus Singers and families sit eagerly by their computers and phones , waiting to finally see the edited video that they ’ d spent months rehearsing for , recording in the studio , mixing , shooting video in multiple locations in multiple outfits and with multiple takes . The hope is to receive positive comments and more views on YouTube than those of parents and family members .
The latest video , a Girl Scout version of Pentatonix ’ s White Winter Hymnal , went live on November 18 , 2019 . By the next morning it had over 1,000 views and was showing up across the country . Within 48 hours it was being shared across the world and shot up to 10,000 views !! Paris , Philippines , Argentina , Australia and it has continued to climb since . The video is called Girl Scout Hymnal and it ’ s following in the footsteps of the other videos that the girls have made ; Savannah , Ooh Na Na and the highest viewed video with an amazing 200,000 views in 85 countries , All About That Badge . The Citrus Singers have become an international sensation ( at least in the world of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides ).
SO , WHO ARE THESE GIRLS ? ARE THEY A TROOP ? WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM ?
The Citrus Singers are a group of talented Girl Scouts from many different troops in Citrus Council . Their mission is to instill confidence through performance . They travel in from five different counties to their rehearsal location in Longwood . The Citrus Singers rehearse on weekends and perform all over Central Florida throughout the year .
To join , girls need to be able to sing in pitch , commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule ( which , really , the parents need to commit to do ) and have an enthusiasm to perform . Girl Scouts gain experience , professionalism , new friends , a little fame and an abundance of confidence not only on stage , but in their lives . For many of the girls , it is their first time learning how to use a microphone , how to carry themselves on stage professionally , how to be teammates and how to skillfully sing solo or harmony parts . Others have come into the program with previous experience and are given other growth opportunities .
