Human rights at war

Rojo, Inés.

Luciano Arruga, an Argentine kid from the neighbourhood of La Matanza from Buenos Aires, was a cartonero (an informal worker who collects pieces of cardboard separating it from the rest of the trash). In more than one occasion, the police offered him to steal for them. He refused several times till eventually, the district police tortured him at the police station and then they reported him as missing.

Today, three years after, the identity of the responsible policeman is still unknown. Since then Luciano’s sister is still fighting and looking for him without any government help.

In these three cases we can see how human rights have been violated by the same forces that should protect them . Also these pieces of news have never been in the front page of the most widely read newspapers.
