Mass is pretty on and off. It has always been more of a hardcore

scene overall, especially in our area- the north shore. We'll play
on a bill with national acts and have a pretty good turnout, but most local shows tend to be pretty small as far as the
metal scene goes. In the beginning it was tough to get our name out there with no real venues in our immediate area.
There seems to be more metal fans out in central and western MA, and figuring that out was a huge step for us.
You guys have seemingly come a long way! So, why "Carnivora"? i know most metal bands just mash brutal
words together, absolutely nothing wrong with that. eh-hem Deathangel, Skeletonwitch, Napalm Death..Ninja
Death Squad...sorry I’m getting carried away. SO, is there more to the name?
Haha, it was a process getting to our current name. Months before we actually formed, our singer Scott had signed up
for a battle of the bands as a non-existent band he called "Anaphylactic Shock". He signed up as a joke, not really expecting a call back or anything. He eventually got contacted and told that Anaphylactic Shock would be playing in the
battle of the bands. After piecing together the line-up of then-Carnivora, we decided we weren't going to play under that
name. We definitely went through the works of mashing together every brutal word we could think up but we felt we
were forcing it. Somebody came to practice one day with the name "Carnivora", and we were all kind of like "Yeah... I
like meat, I can dig that." It doesn't have much of a deeper meaning beyond that, we just liked it because it sounded
cool and aggressive.
Oh also the Pentacrest, anything we should know about the symbols origin
in relation?
As far as the Pentacrest, that is a fairly recent symbol we have been using. We
use Five Miligrams art for everything. Our friend Ipoet Poetra from Indonesia
does it for us. When we told him we wanted a crest, he pretty much took it into his
own hands to work the symbols in. He likes to use animals in our art to maintain
the "Carnivora" theme. The "MMX" is roman numerals for 2010, which is when we
formed. There's also some little symbols, like an Oroborus and some inverted
crosses. Just some metal stuff that he and ourselves felt fit our music!
I looove your high energy shows, you guys are total natural performers.
cool and collected off stage and blowing minds on stage, although i did notice the bass player switch up, mind commenting on that?
Thanks! We are very much a live oriented band. We always like to make sure our
live show is as tight and high-energy as it can be.
Our original bass player Cam had some personal things come up in his life that
he needed to attend to. We are on great terms with him and he'll always be an important influence on the band. He has helped us through the transition to playing with Shaun, which has
gone extremely smoothly. We've known Shaun from other bands he has played with, and he was
the first and only person we contacted. He came to our practice space to jam a few times and we
knew it was going to work well. Shaun did a small tour with us on the weekend after Thanksgiving, and he killed it every night!
